We reached the end of our automobile adventures and although we had a few wrong turns, we successfully navigated to the rental car drop-off in Siena. After a short (but intense) sprint to the train station we were off to Florence for a few days of exploration.
We crossed off all the quintessential Florence tourist stops including climbing the steps of the Duomo, strolling the Ponte Vecchio, and gazing up at Michelangelo's David. But we made sure to find a few quaint out-of-the-way stops to enjoy the true essence of Florence and its people. These types of encounters are what I most enjoy about traveling to a foreign land. I was amazed when we spent over an hour laughing and talking with a local (who'd had a few) even though he understood no English and we understood none of his Italian.
Salute de three, vino, pane, amour!! Wine, bread, love!!
