Roger Waters - The Wall

It is not every day you get to see a member of your favorite band perform your favorite album just 5 feet away from you.

This was my second time around for Roger Waters solo version of Pink Floyd's legendary album, The Wall. The first was 2 years ago. Same venue. Same show. Let's just say that I'd pony up the cash to see this show year after year if I could. It is THAT good. For those of you who have seen it, you know what I'm talking about. For those of you that haven't, lucky for you I took a few photos!

I had to beg and plead to get this photo pass. Jam Magazine had shot this show a month prior and typically they don't cover the same show twice on the same tour. But I was relentless. Finally they caved and put in the request. Four days before the show I received the news that I'd have a photo pass waiting for me. It was truly an amazing experience that I'll never forget. Thanks Jam Magazine for making it possible!

Amsterdam 2011

After an extensive countryside tour of Tuscany, I was looking forward to getting back to familiar ground in Amsterdam. Visiting this city for my fourth time, I thought I knew what to expect. But then again, why should I? Each and every one of my visits to Amsterdam thus far had been completely unique - and this was yet another.

Hands down, this was some of the best weather I've experienced while in Amsterdam. I finally made it to the Heineken brewery tour, finally rented a bike (which I'll never go again without), toured the Anne Frank House, took a midnight boat cruise and indulged in some of the best eats (insert: chocolate croissants) while visiting this gorgeous city with all of its gorgeous people (and by people, I mean tall, blonde females).

One of our most memorable (however a bit foggy…) nights was spent with a local friend we had met when we were in Thailand a few years back. It's amazing that we can meet someone halfway across the world, on a small corner of a Thailand beach, not see them again until we visit their side of the globe in the Netherlands... and yet pick up like no time had passed.  We will not forget our night getting the "local" treatment with our great friend, Marco …even though it was a night we won't remember to forget.

Fun. at Myth Nightclub - 4/13/12

If you have turned on your radio for even the briefest moment lately, odd's are pretty good you have heard the band Fun. and their Billboard Top 100 song, "We Are Young". According to the band's frontman Nate Reuss, this show at the Myth Nightclub in St. Paul, MN was "the biggest headlining show Fun. has ever done". Thanks to Jam Magazine, I was able to branch out from my typical music tastes and capture this indie pop band as they delighted the enthusiastic, late-teen/early twenties crowd.

Fishwithmatt.com

Three weeks ago as I was driving my full-size truck across a frozen lake, I reflected back on one of the most amazing fishing seasons I've had on the ice. The mild Minnesota Winter had forced us further north to Lake Mille Lacs where I spent numerous "banner" fishing weekends with some great friends. One of those friends was professional fisherman and guide, Matt Peters.

Looking back, I find myself itching for open water fishing as I revisit these photos from last fall of Matt in action on his new 2012 Ranger Z521. Not only does this gorgeous boat catch fish, it makes you look good doing it too. Having Matt (and his horseshoe) along is just a bonus… but I give full credit to the Ranger. It's totally the boat… not the man. (sarcasm)

As the new fishing season approaches, I hope to share with you more photos of this boat and (in all honesty) the guy who makes it do all the wonderful things it does.

If you're looking to forego a monotonous 8 hour day at the office staring at a computer screen in favor of dancing with some of God's ferocious finned friends, I'd highly recommend getting in touch with Matt. Even if he is currently on the water (hard or soft, doesn't matter - he's on it), you can reach him via www.Fishwithmatt.com.

Florence

We reached the end of our automobile adventures and although we had a few wrong turns, we successfully navigated to the rental car drop-off in Siena. After a short (but intense) sprint to the train station we were off to Florence for a few days of exploration.

We crossed off all the quintessential Florence tourist stops including climbing the steps of the Duomo, strolling the Ponte Vecchio, and gazing up at Michelangelo's David. But we made sure to find a few quaint out-of-the-way stops to enjoy the true essence of Florence and its people. These types of encounters are what I most enjoy about traveling to a foreign land. I was amazed when we spent over an hour laughing and talking with a local (who'd had a few) even though he understood no English and we understood none of his Italian.

Salute de three, vino, pane, amour!! Wine, bread, love!!
